About Scrandle

Scrandle is a daily game built around a question football fans argue about at every ground: whose stadium food is actually worth the money?

Each day, two real dishes from real football clubs go head-to-head. Photos taken by fans at the grounds, prices and all. One round might pit a £5 Bombay sandwich from FC United of Manchester against an £18.50 cheeseburger and chips from Arsenal. The next could send a £13.50 rotisserie chicken from LA FC against a £2.10 Feijão tropeiro from Cruzeiro. Your job is the same every time: pick whichever dish the community rated higher.

The game runs on real poll data. You’re not picking your favourite — you’re guessing how the crowd voted. That gap between “what I’d want to eat” and “what everyone else actually rated higher” is where Scrandle gets its hooks in. Cheap food beats expensive food more often than you’d think. A lower-league pie has knocked off £20 offerings from Premier League clubs more than once.

Scrandle launched in 2023, built by a small team of football and food obsessives. It spread mostly through word-of-mouth — matchday regulars sharing results, football podcasters playing a round on air. The game now covers hundreds of clubs across Europe, the Americas, and South America, with new dishes added throughout each season.

Three ways to play

  • Daily — one matchup per day, shared worldwide, with a streak to protect. Resets at midnight.
  • History — every past puzzle in order. Good for catching up on the archive if you’re new.
  • Practice — unlimited random matchups, no streak on the line. Useful for getting a feel for which clubs tend to win before you risk your Daily.

Tips & Tricks

Price doesn’t predict the winner. South American clubs and lower-league UK grounds show up well — their food is often cheaper and community-rated higher than Premier League offerings.

Photos do a lot of the work too. A well-shot plate pulls votes regardless of what it actually tastes like, which means eye-catching presentation can beat a pricier dish.

Club knowledge builds over time. Some grounds are known for exceptional pies or a cult-favourite snack. The longer you play, the better your mental model of which clubs tend to win.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Scrandle?

+
Scrandle is a free daily game about stadium food. Each round shows two real matchday dishes from real football clubs, and you pick whichever one got more community votes. The format works like Wordle: one challenge per day, a shared result everyone sees, and a streak to keep alive.

How do you play Scrandle?

+
Two food photos appear side-by-side, each showing the dish name, the club that sells it, and the price. Click or tap whichever one you think got more community votes. A results bar shows the split and your streak updates. Longer streaks earn more points per round.

Is Scrandle a daily game?

+
Yes. One matchup goes live every day at midnight and is the same for all players worldwide. You get one Daily attempt per day. The History tab lets you replay every past puzzle in order, and Practice gives you unlimited random matchups with no streak on the line.

Is Scrandle free to play?

+
Yes. No account required and no paywalls. You can create a free profile to sync your streak across devices, but anonymous play works fine indefinitely.

Do I need to download Scrandle?

+
No. Scrandle runs in your browser on any device. No app, no plugin, no install required.

Which football clubs appear in Scrandle?

+
Scrandle covers clubs from around the world: Premier League sides like Arsenal and Liverpool, lower-league clubs like FC United of Manchester, MLS teams like LA FC, and South American clubs like Cruzeiro. The range matters because it produces genuinely unexpected matchups — a £2.10 Feijão tropeiro from Cruzeiro has gone up against a £13.50 rotisserie chicken from LA FC.

Can I play old Scrandle puzzles?

+
Yes. The History tab has every past daily challenge listed in order. History scores are tracked separately from your Daily streak, so replaying old puzzles won't affect your main record.

How does scoring work in Scrandle?

+
Each correct pick earns points, with multipliers for active streaks. Picking the winner on your first look (before spending too long on the price) can earn bonus points. Break your streak on the Daily challenge and your score resets.

Is Scrandle related to Wordle?

+
It borrows the format Wordle made popular: one challenge per day, a result shared across all players, and a streak to maintain. The actual gameplay is different — you're comparing food photos, not guessing words — but the daily structure and the social side feel the same.
